Projet Pilote de la STM: Rack a Vélo sur Bus

In spring and summer of 2010, Montréal à Vélo organized a postcard campaign where hundreds of postcards were sent to STM President Michel Labrecque demanding that the STM add some bike racks to its fleet of buses.

Unlike many other cities in Canada and around the world, not a single STM bus has a single bike rack.  For years the STM promised a pilot project, but it never materialized.

In recent weeks, people has been receiving written replies from the STM:

Now the STM is planning a press event on Monday to unveil the details of the pilot project.

According to our sources, a single bus route will have bike racks on every bus. The route was chosen because it has a little bit of everything: left and right turns, connection to a metro station, schools along the route, etc.
